Most years, I start asking Greg to let me put up the Christmas decorations on Halloween, and I keep them out until days into January, when he can't stand it anymore and packs them away himself.
I myself put away our tree and decorations on December 28th. I just really felt like the holiday season had been long and hard enough, and I am ready to move on.
This Advent season was so, so good. We enjoyed good times with dear friends, great preaching at church, and lots of wonderful everyday family moments.
This season, we asked Christ to come near. And he did, but (as is his way) not in the ways we expected. This season was marked by both the heights of God's hope and the despair of hopelessness. And now I'm ready to step into what's next for us.
The Christmas decorations are packed and stored. Twenty-ten is here, come what may.
